Amber Flag Celebrations
Today was a special day for our school as we raised the Amber flag.
The day started with some dancing as the girls were lining up! Then we welcomed Bríd Stack, former All Ireland winning ladies footballer and Australian Rules player, to raise the flag. She spoke to us about the benefits of physical activity for our mental health. She played games with us and got everyone moving… even the teachers! We were delighted Bríd could join us and she brought great energy and positivity!
The Amber Flag committee reminded us of some of the activities we did to achieve the flag. These included creating a wellbeing notice board, holding a wellbeing week, fundraising for Pieta House and designing a school slogan “Be kind to everybody, especially yourself”. Well done Rebecca, Emma, Amelia, Saoirse, Helen, Kathlyn, Lauren, Tara, Emily and Aoife!
To celebrate all the hard work everyone put into the initiative, there was a big surprise in the halla! The girls enjoyed some time on the obstacle course bouncing castle! It was great to see so many happy faces and everyone having fun with their friends!
What a great fun-filled day in school!
Thank you to everyone who helped us to earn this flag. We are very proud and look forward to many more wellbeing activities over the coming months!
